BBP Waste Task Force

The diversity of biohazardous waste together with the complexity of the biosafety and waste regulations and the fact that they are not always fully compatible make the strict application of these regulations sometimes difficult to implement in practice.

The Waste Task Force was created to tackle a number of issues related to regulatory and practical aspects linked to biological waste.

Among the tasks of the TF are planned:
• an inventory of relevant legislations at European, federal and regional levels
• a review of the different waste streams and sharing of experiences on any specific type of waste
• a search of solutions to solve specific problems of waste, with priority given to the disposal of HEPA filters
• a review of (best) existing methods for treatment and handling of biohazard waste.
